Howdy! We're happy to be back with your favorite (mostly) design-related roundup by the girls and boys from the STRV design team. In this issue we talk Kobe Bryant, sweet upgrades to kickass prototyping tools and unicode.

Just as we noticed a couple of weeks ago, the latest release of Sketch 3.7 was just around the corner. After a slightly rocky launch a few days back, the fine guys over at Bohemian worked hard to bring us a stable release shortly after… and ooh la la! We tried it, and we love it. While the new, completely rebuilt symbol system takes a few minutes to get used to, it definitely is an improvement workflow-wise and pushes users to be a lot more tidy and efficient in the way they set up their documents. Just try it!

For more information about Sketch 3.7, read this blog post. Additionally, there’s this round-up focusing on symbols which might be of interest to you.

OTHER-DESIGN RELEVANT NEWS

OH BLOOMBERG, HOW MUCH WE MISSED YOU!

As they have before, Bloomberg has dropped its latest Design Issue; a colorful collection of features, articles and interviews with 25 thinkers, designers and people involved in the field. And as it has before, Bloomberg retains its so very characteristic approach to visual design. Never change, Bloomberg ♥

THE NEW FACE OF FRAMER

Will this finally settle the beloved “should designers code” question? We don’t know, and we don’t care! This new iteration of Framer allows you to create, edit and manipulate objects (which of course you coded beforehand) with the simplicity of a visual tool through a function called Auto-Code. And by the way, the Framer team hosted an AMA (Ask Me Anything) over at Designer News, so you can learn more about Auto-Code there.

FACEBOOK REVEALS ORIGAMI STUDIO

Another prototyping tool upgrade! Origami was originally a Quartz Composer component developed internally at Facebook based on visual programing. Some time later this year we should also have free access to the standalone version, Origami Studio!

REMEMBER TOKYO 2020?

Yeah, yeah, we’re like 10 days late on this. Still, it’s worth taking a look! After last year’s cringeworthy plagiarism fiasco, a new contest to brand the Tokyo 2020 was set in motion and these are the four finalists. What’s your favorite?

SO, WE WENT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND...

Graphemica - A beautiful, handy source of unicode characters. Yes we ♥ this.

Infographic of Kobe Bryant’s shots - One of those self-explanatory titles. It includes all 30,699 of them.

Push for Pizza keeps pushing forward - And speaking of things being self-explanatory… remember Push for Pizza? Well, stoners rejoice! Their pizza boxes could include a component that, when removed from its place, doubles as a pipe. It is though, for now, only in the concept phase. ☹
