We're expanding! STRV is planning to open an office in Brno at the beginning of 2016.

CEO David Semerad and COO Lubo Smid broke the news during our Smartwatch Hackathon in Brno on Saturday.

“We want to leverage the IT talent in this region. Opening an office in Brno makes a lot sense. It is the next logical step for us,” David says. “Our recruitment team has been flooded with interest from members of the Brno tech community over the past several months, but not everyone is willing to relocate to Prague.”

Lubo adds that he has been busy scouting out centrally located office space for STRV's Brno debut. “We're not looking for a typical office space. We want to be flexible and start off working out of an apartment or co-working space and move once it's needed,” he says. “We are going to take a similar approach as we did in Prague.”

“This is a strategic opportunity for us,” says Lubo, “and after seeing so many inspiring app ideas and designs come out of Saturday's hackathon, I am looking forward to ramping up the recruitment process for our new Brno office.”

STRV already has a number of key engineers working in Brno, including Petr Nohejl, one of our top Android programmers, who will help screen potential new hires.

“We have nearly doubled our workforce since the beginning of the year and have a number of really exciting projects in the pipeline,” says David. “We are looking for top engineers and designers who are really going to be able to hit the ground running.”

The Brno hackathon, our third of the year, focused on iOS and Android smartwatches. A full roundup of the event, including details of the winning app and our guest jury panel, will be posted soon. So stay tuned!
