Congratulations are in order!

Ordr, Prague's leading food delivery service which broke away from STRV at the beginning of the year to become its own company, took second place at PragueCrunch last week.

Jakub Plas, Ordr's CEO, was awarded with tickets to TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco next month, where he hopes to explore expansion efforts and seek investment opportunities on the U.S. market.

“Ordr just celebrated its one-year anniversary. So this is a huge, huge honor. I am totally excited to be heading to San Francisco. If someone had told me this would be happening a year ago, I wouldn't have believed them,” says Jakub.

Ordr, a project that came out of STRV Labs last summer, now has more than 7,000 regular customers, with bike couriers delivering hundreds of lunch and dinner meals everyday in seven minutes or less.

“I’m really proud that we are able to keep our delivery times and customer satisfaction on the same level, considering that we are growing by 25 percent every month,” says Jakub, adding that several new changes will be implemented this fall, including cool new app features and a wider daily menu selection.

But the bigger goal now is to expand outside of Prague into cities across Europe and maybe someday, in the not too distant future, across the Atlantic.

“Sure, we'd like to focus on the U.S. market, but without strong partners or advisers on board, this would be a very tough leap,” says Jakub. “My goal is to secure some good contacts in San Francisco next month and make Ordr's expansion efforts a reality.”

Ordr is the first of two STRV projects that spun off into separate companies this year. Lavendr, STRV's gay dating app, also recently branched off on its own as it works to grow its rapidly expanding user base on the U.S. and European markets.

“We're really proud that these STRV-developed projects are thriving,” says STRV COO Lubo Smid. “I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for both of these companies.”

Lubo will join Jakub and STRV CEO David Semerad at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco.
